Joe Humphries Memorial Trust (JHMT)

On your marks, get set, and get ready to run a very special mile for Joe

Joe's Jog is a mile-long family fun-run in memory of Joe Humphries, a 14-year-old Rothley boy who collapsed and died suddenly while out jogging near his Rothley home in October 2012. He was a victim of SADS – Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome – a heart condition that can strike anyone at any time, particularly otherwise fit and healthy young people between 12 – 35 years old.

Since Joe’s death, his family and friends have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of SADS and sudden heart deaths. They set up the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust (JHMT) to provide free CPR and AED familiarisation training, help fund community defibrillators, and campaign for better understanding of SADS. The charity also runs the Inspire Awards, a small grants scheme that helps inspiring young people, 13 – 21 years old, to fulfil their potential.

To help raise money for this excellent cause, the sixth Joe's Jog event will once again be the curtain-raiser for the annual Mattioli Woods Rothley 10k, which takes place on Tuesday 11 June 2019.

The inclusive and family-friendly fun-run gives families and children the chance to be part of the Rothley 10k evening, as well as raise funds for the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust's (JHMT) ongoing work to saving young lives. For further details about JHMT, go to Advance entry costs £5 for adults and £3 for children. On-the-day entry costs £10 for adults and £6 for children.
